Extend Selection Mode

The F8 function key activates the Extend Selection mode. Use Extend Selection to select the current word, sentence, or paragraph, or the entire document.

Press F8 twice to select the current word, three times to select the current sentence, four times to select the current paragraph, or five times to select the entire document.

Press Esc to turn Extend Selection off.
