Using Drag�and�Drop Text Editing III: Dragging and Dropping between Slides

PowerPoint�s Drag�and�drop text editing makes moving and copying text between slides easy. To drag�and�drop text from one slide to another, switch to the Outline view. Now follow the appropriate steps below.

Moving text

  1. Highlight the text you want to move.

  2. Click the highlighted text and hold down the left mouse button.

  3. Drag the text to its new location.

  4. Let go of the mouse button.

Copying text

  1. Highlight the text you want to copy.

  2. Press and hold the Ctrl key.

  3. Click the highlighted text and hold down the left mouse button.

  4. Drag the text to its new location.

  5. Let go of the mouse button.

  6. Let go of the Ctrl key.

Moving and Copying with the Right Mouse Button

  1. Highlight the text you want to move or copy.

  2. Click the highlighted text and hold down the right mouse button.

  3. Drag the text to its new location.

  4. Let go of the mouse button. When the menu appears, select Move Here, Copy Here, or Cancel.

Drag�and�drop text editing is turned on by default. If you want to turn it off, select Options from the Tools menu. On the Edit tab, deselect the Drag�and�drop text editing check box, then click OK.
