Recovering Text

Sometimes you have to try to salvage what you can from a file created in another application, or from a corrupted Word document file. When this is so, try the Recover Text from Any File feature. In the Open dialog box, go to the Files of type field and select Recover Text from Any File from the list. Select the file you want to recover and click Open. Word creates a new document containing the text from the file you selected.

Be advised that the recovered text is likely to be incomplete or fragmentary, and that this document will contain a lot of "garbage" characters, but recovering text may mean that you won't have to redo the document from scratch.
