Customizing the Toolbar to Streamline Printing a Selected Range

Letís apply customizing a toolbar to a practical problem. Suppose you rarely print a whole worksheet; instead, you print selected ranges, a different one each time. Hereís how to do that:

  1. Select the range you want to print.

  2. Select Print from the File menu.

  3. In the Print dialog box, click the Selection button under Print what.

  4. Click OK.

You can streamline this procedure by adding the Set Print Area button to the Standard toolbar. Hereís how:

  1. Right-click any toolbar and select Customize from the shortcut menu.

  2. In the Customize dialog box, select the Commands tab.

  3. Under Category, select File.

  4. Under Commands, find Set Print Area and drag it to the Standard toolbar. Drop it just to the left of the Print button.

  5. Click Close.

Now, to print a selected range, just do this:

  1. Select the range you want to print.

  2. Click the Set Print Area button.

  3. Click the Print button.
