Just how many way are there to adjust the width of a column? Let’s review:
You can drag the right edge of the column header (the gray bar at the top of the worksheet) until the column is as wide – or as narrow – as you want it.
You can double-click the right edge of the column header so Excel will adjust the width for you.
You can enter a specific width value in the Column Width dialog box.
Here’s how to do that last one:
Select a column or columns.
Select Column from the Format menu, then Width from the submenu (or right-click the selection and select Column Width from the shortcut menu).
Enter a value in the Column Width dialog box. (Excel measures column width in characters. Twelve to fifteen characters equals about an inch in Arial 10, Excel’s default font.)
