Entering a Description for a Database Object

Entering a description for a database object is a handy way to document your database. It lets you tell others what each object is for.

To enter a description for any database object, right–click the object in the Database window and select Properties from the shortcut menu. Enter your description in the Description field, then click OK.

Access will display the description in the Description column when you display details. You can also print your descriptions from the Documenter.

Tip-within-a-tip:

“The Documenter is a tool that you can use to view, print, output, or save the design characteristics of your database objects. For more information, look up the Documenter in Access Help.”
